As we are sure you are aware, the London 2012 Olympics are fast approaching.
During this time London will be exceptionally busy, meaning there could be a localised impact on the provision of services and resolving of faults.
Different restrictions may apply depending on the nature of the service, however, here we provide you with details on how the Orbex network and services are affected.
Everything you need to know is detailed here:
ORBEX
To avoid any potential disruption to services, major Orbex platform and network upgrade work will be halted during the period of the Games, this is in line with other UK operators.
Provisioning of new services will continue as expected however suppliers such as Openreach may be unable to complete installations during the period of the Games. The Clearway 2012 initiative gives traffic flow top priority and will ensure that athletes and officials get to Games events on time; street works or digging of roads/pavements will not be permitted along the Olympic Route Network in Central London, and along other key routes.
ClearWay 2012 comes into effect on the Olympic Route Network:
In addition, London Boroughs hosting Olympic events have extended the embargo on street works to other local roads deemed 'major routes'.
The provision of services in these areas may be affected. Contact the appropriate Council or ask us for further information.
The ‘Get Ahead of the Games’ Website contains information about Central London and the possible disruption that could affect our services.

ORBEX INSTALLATIONS & MAINTENANCE
Our Engineers will continue to carry out installation and Maintenance work during the period of the Games.
Whilst we do not anticipate being unable to complete any work, there may be a delay in arriving on-site and/or completing jobs. It is expected that there will be significantly more traffic on the roads during the Games and, in addition, there will be many changes to the road layout in Central London. Orbex Engineers may find it difficult to reach customer sites, or to reach parking areas, especially on or near the Olympic Route Network.
We will do our utmost to ensure that we meet our Service Levels, particularly for high priority faults, but transport conditions during the Games could mean response times are not as fast as we normally aim for.
ORBEX NETWORK - VOICE SOLUTIONS
No impact is expected and Voice services will operate normally. Our office will take calls on 08444 150 120 between 9:00 & 5:30 as normal.
We will work with our suppliers to manage service availability for any exceptional events that should arise.
ORBEX BROADBAND
There is already speculation about the impact the Olympics will have on Business Broadband services. Most of the speculation has been driven by recent news and sporting events which has resulted in a significant increase in the use of Streaming services such as 'BBC iPlayer' during business hours.
We recognise and appreciate the huge interest and demand to watch the events during the Olympics. But we also recognise that it is essential to prioritise Business Critical applications that use our broadband services. We are committed to ensuring confidence in our services during the Olympics and advise that streaming applications which are non-business critical should not be allowed to impact on your business critical requirements.
Consider the use of a shared area to watch events on TV rather than each person streaming from their individual workplaces. This will save on the demand and speed up your broadband service.
